I just wanted to hop on and share a few of my favorite apps that I found out about recently. These apps will help make your life a little easier if you are a blogger. However, they could also be useful for non-bloggers so feel free to share this with your friends or family!
The best way to describe this app is that it is the closest thing you are going to get to a free personal assistant! I currently set it up to send me a notification of my local weather every morning at 7 am. This is PERFECT! That means my weather notification will already be waiting for me when I wake up in the morning. This way I know how to dress for the day or how to dress my kids for the day as soon as I wake up. I know I could look up the weather myself buuuut it is nice that you can use this app to automate so many little, pesky tasks in life. I think this really is going to be a great time saver for me! I’m actually REALLY excited about finding this app. I’m going to make sure I tell everyone about it!
This is a great app if you try to keep up with a lot of blogs. It can be difficult remembering to check the different blog sites and you probably have so many posts to go through on social media that you may end up missing new posts from your favorite bloggers. Feedly is an app that lets you follow all of your favorite bloggers all in one place. You can also categorize the different blogs however you want. You can go through the blog posts by “today” and then scroll through to past days you may have missed. I know I am listing this app to follow blogs as a great app FOR bloggers but I’m assuming if you are a blogger that you probably follow and read numerous blogs yourself. If not, you could also suggest this app to people you know to make it easier for them to follow and keep up with your blog 🙂
Canva is such a great alternative to Photoshop if you don’t have that. You can do so much on the free version of Canva and it is so user-friendly! I don’t think there’s anything else to say about it. That pretty much sums it all up nicely… But I love it! I use it for all of my blogging graphics needs. They also have free illustrations or photos you can use which is so so helpful!
Pocket is a save-for-later type of app. Its name kind of explains that even. It is a way to put articles, videos, or images right into your pocket for later. Up until now, I had been copying URLs and pasting them into a note so I could save them for later. It was difficult to tell what the link was for or about when I referred back to it later though. Pocket is a better alternative since it shows the title of the article and the featured image on the list. This helps quickly jog my memory for why I saved that link.
5. Hype Type (updated)
UPDATE: Or Ripl! Ripl does similar things as Hype Type and may even be better if you are willing to subscribe to the paid version.
This is an app you would use in conjunction with Instagram. (Maybe you could use it elsewhere but I am pretty sure it was created for use with Instagram specifically.) It is described as an animated captions app. You pick a background image and words and you can choose different music, animations, etc. It is a way to bring life to your IG stories. I have seen people create these animated caption pictures as the first picture in their different Story Highlights on IG. It’s such a great idea! I plan to do the same when I stop and spend more time on my social media accounts for this blog.
Grammarly is just as it sounds, a grammar app. The version for your computer you install onto your browser but you can also use it as an app on your phone to correct you while you type. On your phone, it is a separate keyboard you turn on after installing the app. The free version seems to correct spelling mainly. The paid version is more comprehensive and includes correcting sentence structure, etc. I may consider spending the money on the paid version in the future.
Please share in the comments below any apps you have found useful or any apps you have come across recently! I love finding new fun or useful apps!
